Welcome to Stony Plain
Located approximately 40 km (25 mi) west of Edmonton, the town of Stony Plain offers the draw of big city amenities combined with its own interesting collection of attractions and services. Visitors exploring the array of shops and restaurants on Main Street will see why Stony Plain is known as —the Town with the Painted Past—. The community boasts over 20 colourful murals that celebrate the town's history, multiculturalism and its famous locals. Visitors can create their own walking tour of these larger-than-life works of art or join the Multicultural Heritage Centre's guided mural walking tour. The Pioneer Museum, which features a 1942 barn as its main building, is another great historical attraction with over 1,300 artifacts offering insight into Stony Plain's agricultural heritage. A diverse selection of recreational opportunities also await in Stony Plain, such as the gorgeous Japanese garden Shikaoi Park and exciting tours and activities like skydiving. Visitors should make sure to mark the community's fun mix of annual events on their calendars, including the summertime Blueberry Bluegrass and Country Music Festival and the Farmers' Days Rodeo and Exhibition.
