Welcome to Kalopanayiotis
Kalopanayiotis, a traditional Cypriot village in the Troodos mountains, is one of the twenty one destinations around Europe awarded the title of '2011 European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) in Tourism and Regeneration of Physical Sites' at a Gala Awards ceremony in Brussels on 27 September 2011.
EDEN is a project launched by the European Commission promoting sustainable tourism development models across the EU. The project is based on national competitions that take place every year since 2006 and result in the selection of a tourist "destination of excellence" for each participating country.
According to EDEN Kalopanayiotis is a beautiful village with its traditional architecture and cobbled streets, is an example of a community untouched by modern day civilization. In antiquity Romans and Byzantines used to visit the village for the healing properties of its thermal springs. Also, there are many old churches and chapels.
Visitors will enjoy a peaceful and idyllic atmosphere all year round.
