   Welcome to Ivanjica !!!

Ivanjica  town is located in central Serbia, 224 kilometers from Belgrade. It lies at the bank of Moravica River and it borders the municipalities of Sjenica, Nova Varoš, Raška, Novi Pazar, Kraljevo, Lučani and Arilje. It is surrounded by Golija, Jayor, Mucanj, Cemerno and Radocelo mountain ranges. It is known as the birthplace of Draza Mihailovic, the World War II Chetnik leader.

Tourists must know that the whole town is an air spa ! There are lots of restorative centers and spas in Ivanjica.

A must visit in the town is the St. Emperor Constantine and Empress Jelena church, built in 1836. Also the wonderful stine bridge over Moravica River, built in 1904. It is known as the largest single-arch bridge in the Balkans.

The symbol of the city is the power station, built in 1911, that creates a splendid waterfall on Moravica River.

Between the other beauties of the city is also the Palibrčki gravesite. Ask the legend about the tomb of the Jugovići brothers, which is said to be here.

Another 10 km from Ivanjica there is the wonderful Hadži-Prodanova cave, of which just 400 metres have been explored until present. Only the entrance measures 3 metres in length, and the overall size is still unknown. Wonderful pics can be taken here !

Do not miss the Golija Mountain ! From its atop you can see half of Serbia ! It abounds with clean water, medicinal herbs, opportunities for hunting, etc.

If you love fishing, here is a tip: the Tičar Lake, at an altitude of 1500 metres, high atop Dajić hill. Other lakes near are the Okruglica and Kašinovo Lake. There’s an intense fishing activity in this region. Also hunting is a popular activity on Golija mountain, where takes place the traditional Wolf Hunt, the most renowned event in Serbia.

Also Javor Mountain, with its highest Vasilije peak, 1520 metres, offers beautiful sights ! At the foothills do not miss the monument of Major Ilić, a hero of the Javor war.

Just 28 km from Ivanjica is situated the Pridvorica Monastery, that is worth visiting, just as Kovilje monastery, built in 1606, nowadays in the village of Smiljevac.

   Enjoy Ivanjica !!
